Michael Moscarelli has extensive experience in the field of agriculture and food security. Michael currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Partners of the Americas, where they manage a large staff and budgets for a USAID- and USDA-funded portfolio. Prior to this role, they held positions such as Vice President, Director, and Deputy Director, all focused on agriculture and food security, where they ensured compliance with donor requirements and led various programmatic activities. Before joining Partners of the Americas, Michael worked as a Program Officer at International Relief and Development (IRD), where they provided technical writing and analysis for proposals related to food security and climate change adaptation. Michael also has experience as a Graduate/Research Assistant at Cornell University, where they managed research databases and conducted academic mentoring. Additionally, Michael served as a Volunteer Leader and Sustainable Agriculture Extension Agent in the Peace Corps, where they designed and managed training programs, mentored volunteers, and implemented agricultural workshops for small-holder farmers. Michael also worked as a Project Advisor at FAO, where they developed strategic plans and organized workshops on seed production and certification.
Michael Moscarelli has a strong academic background with a focus on agricultural leadership, education, and communications. Michael is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications at Texas A&M University, which they are expected to complete in 2023. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Professional Studies (M.P.S.) degree in International Agriculture and Rural Development from Cornell University in 2014. Michael also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business Administration, which they earned from the University of Mary Washington in 2007.
In addition to their formal education, Michael has obtained several certifications to further enhance their expertise. Michael received their Ph.D. certification from Texas A&M University in August 2023. Michael also holds a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education, which they obtained in May 2021. These certifications further exemplify their commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
