Michael Laperche

Michael Laperche is the VP of Risk Management at PARTNERSHIPS WITH INDUSTRY. Prior to joining PARTNERSHIPS WITH INDUSTRY, Michael was the Risk Manager at the City of Tampa from June 2008 to January 2015. In this role, Michael was responsible for developing programs, policies, and systems in the areas of legal compliance, recruitment, OD, training, performance management, risk management, insurance, and safety. Michael also led a team of customer focused individuals to achieve performance measures and was responsible for a $78M budget.

As Risk Manager for the City of Tampa, Michael was responsible for key areas such as benefits planning, benefits administration, actuary coordination, depositions, arbitrations, mediations and negotiations for settlement of claims and lawsuits, self-insurance, corporate representative for lawsuits and claims, workers’ compensation, risk tolerance, risk transfer, and insurance program design. Michael was also responsible for claims management, occupational safety, accident investigation, indemnification and insurance requirements, strategic planning, and insurance negotiations with global insurers and underwriters.

Michael Laperche received their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business. Michael also holds a BS in Chemistry from Rhode Island College. In addition, they have certification from The Institutes in Associate in Risk Management (ARM-P) and Board of Certified Safety Professionals in Certified Safety Professional. Michael is also certified by RIMS (Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc.) as a Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP), but is no longer active in this certification.
