Shannon M. has a diverse work experience in the education field. Shannon began their career as a Special Education Aide at the UCSB Autism Research Clinic and Hope School District in 2000, where they stayed until December 2003. From 2004 to 2014, Shannon worked as a Teacher in the Greater Los Angeles Area. In 2014, they joined the Pasadena Unified School District as a Teacher on Special Assignment II, serving as the Magnet Site Coordinator at Eliot Arts Magnet. Shannon then moved into various coordinator roles within the district, including the positions of Coordinator I, Coordinator III- LCAP, Planning, & Signature Programs, and Coordinator III- Office of Enrollment. In November 2022, Shannon became the Director of the Magnet Schools Assistance Program, Enrollment, and Community Engagement for the Pasadena Unified School District. Additionally, from January 2019 to September 2020, they worked as an Adjunct Professor of Education at Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology.

Shannon M. earned a Doctor of Education - EdD degree in Organizational Leadership from the Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology. This degree was completed from 2020 to 2023. Before that, Shannon obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Teacher Leadership from California Lutheran University, which was completed from 2004 to 2007. Prior to the Master's degree, Shannon earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara, which was completed from 1999 to 2003.

In addition to formal degrees, Shannon M. has obtained various certifications.
