Fred Ernst

Fred Ernst has extensive law enforcement experience, currently serving as Chief of the Passaic County Sheriff's Office since February 2014, responsible for the Passaic County Superior Court Security Division and supervising a substantial team. Since September 2010, Fred Ernst has also held the position of Detective Captain Commander of the Special Investigations Division at the Passaic County Sheriff's Department, overseeing investigations related to employee misconduct. Previously, Fred Ernst served as Executive Captain overseeing the Court Security Division, and as Detective Captain Commander of Internal Affairs. Early in the career, Fred Ernst was the Assistant Director at the Passaic County Police Academy, where responsibilities included training and managing law enforcement personnel. Education includes attendance at Wagner College from 1968 to 1969.
