Principal Computational Biologist at Pathos

Bonnie Dougherty has a diverse work experience in computational biology and research. Bonnie is currently serving as a Principal Computational Biologist at Pathos since September 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Tempus Labs, Inc. from January 2021 to September 2022, where they held the roles of Sr Computational Systems Biologist and Computational Systems Biologist.

Bonnie's previous experience includes working at the University of Virginia from June 2013 to December 2020. During their time there, they were a PhD student, specializing in utilizing metabolic models and transcriptomics data to identify functional metabolic changes in omics data. Bonnie also identified new biomarkers of cardiotoxicity using in vitro data and metabolic models, resulting in several publications and literature reviews. Additionally, they worked as a Research Scientist, participating in the development of a novel plate reader for profiling microbial pathogens. This project eventually led to the establishment of Cerillo LLC. Bonnie also gained experience in the business side of research through their participation in the Darden iLab and NSF Innovation Corps programs.

Bonnie's earlier work experience includes a brief stint as a Computational Biology Intern at HemoShear Therapeutics in October and November 2019.

Bonnie Dougherty completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering, with a minor in Engineering Business, from the University of Virginia. Bonnie attended the university from 2009 to 2013.

Subsequently, Bonnie pursued further education and achieved a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Virginia. Their doctoral studies began in 2015 and concluded in 2020.
