Program Manager, Healthcare Delivery And Disparities Research Program at Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute

Aaron Shifreen, MBA, has a diverse work experience in various organizations and roles. Aaron currently serves as a Program Manager in the Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research Program at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) since August 2021. In this role, they are responsible for managing and coordinating research projects related to healthcare delivery and disparities.

Prior to their current position, Aaron worked as a Program Associate at PCORI from October 2018 to August 2021. Aaron played a key role in supporting the Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research team by assisting with project management, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement.

Before joining PCORI, Aaron worked at Hanover Research as a Senior Grants Research Associate from March 2015 to July 2016. Aaron was responsible for researching funding opportunities for healthcare institutions, colleges, universities, and K-12 school districts. Aaron provided program-specific recommendations and proposal guidance to clients.

Aaron also gained experience at the German Marshall Fund of the United States as a Transatlantic Leadership Initiatives Intern from August 2013 to February 2014. In this role, they coordinated travel and event logistics for international convenings and managed a budget for a leadership diversity program.

Furthermore, Aaron worked at Skidmore College, where they served as a Research Assistant to the Jean Monnet Chair in European Integration Studies from January 2012 to May 2013. Aaron co-presented on the topic of transatlantic relations during the second Obama Administration. Additionally, they held the position of Case Information Desk Manager, where they established and managed the first comprehensive student-run information desk program.

Aaron's work experience also extends to their involvement in political campaigns. Aaron worked as a Campus Coordinator for Obama for America from April 2012 to November 2012, where they led volunteer recruiting and voter registration events on campus.

Additionally, Aaron has experience working at YMCA Camp Jewell as a Program Instructor from December 2007 to August 2012. Aaron facilitated leadership development and teambuilding exercises and received the Camp Jewell Values Leader award for their dedication to promoting camp values.

Earlier in their career, Aaron gained valuable experience as a Sales Intern at the Bill of Rights Institute, where they redesigned the bookstore webpage and developed a mobile bookstore platform. Aaron also worked as an Outreach and Development Intern at AARP-Legal Counsel for the Elderly, where they promoted volunteering opportunities and reviewed grant proposals.

Prior to their MBA, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Government and International Affairs from Skidmore College between 2009 and 2013. Additionally, they briefly attended American University in 2011. Before college, Aaron attended Kingswood-Oxford.
