Joel Scott has an extensive work experience spanning multiple industries. Joel started their career as a Field Operator at Canadian Natural Resources Limited in 2008. Later, they worked as an Exploitation Engineer at the same company, where they contributed to the development of a forecasting program. After that, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at Dalhousie University.
In 2015, Joel worked as a Freelance Mechanical Engineer for the Department of National Defence, where they focused on product development. Joel then joined Bluedrop Performance Learning as a Freelance Mechanical Engineer, specializing in haptic sensor design and instrumentation.
In 2016, they held multiple freelance positions as a Mechanical Engineer. Joel worked with Cooke Aquaculture Scotland, where they tested and repaired a submersible load cell system. Joel also worked with DriveCare, where they conducted product quality analysis and developed firmware for Bluetooth hardware. In addition, they worked with Quiet Inc., where they designed and developed telecommunications products.
From 2018 to 2020, Joel worked at ecobee, first as a Co-Founder & Product Manager in the Research and Development Innovation Lab, and later as a Product Manager for Sensors + Lighting. During this time, they oversaw multi-disciplinary teams, managed product roadmaps, and developed data analysis platforms.
In 2020, they joined KEEP Labs as the CTO/CISO & Head of Product, where they focused on developing and implementing data security and privacy infrastructure. Joel also managed engineering and aesthetic design, development, and manufacturing of all product components.
Currently, Joel Scott is working at Patronscan as the Head of Product & CISO.
Joel Scott has pursued a Professional Certificate in Applied Innovation and Technology with a focus on Radical Innovation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
