Niki Putnam, Ph.D., D(ABMM) is currently a Clinical Scientist at Pattern Bioscience, responsible for developing clinical and analytical validation protocols, analyzing study data, and preparing scientific communications for regulatory submissions. From August 2021 to July 2025, Niki served as an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Clinical Microbiology at the University of Maryland and the University of Maryland Medical Center, respectively. Prior experience includes a Clinical Microbiology Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health and a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Vanderbilt University, where dissertation research focused on the innate immune response in Staphylococcus aureus osteomyelitis. Niki has also engaged in research at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and earlier roles include work as a pharmaceutical intern and undergraduate researcher, demonstrating a strong foundation in microbiology and immunology.
