Sammy is a technical advisor specializing in electrical and computer engineering. He works alongside Patterson + Sheridan attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Sammy’s interest in IP law began taking root in high school where he earned awards debating competitively. He enjoys the process of dissecting an issue and deciphering how to advocate it from all angles — even ones he disagrees with. The final “click” happened as Sammy was earning his degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin: he discovered IP law allows him to combine his passions for debate and engineering.
Today, Sammy leans on his background in computer engineering to draft patent applications for complex software and telecommunications technologies, including 5G wireless. As an engineer, he is familiar with the ins and outs of various technical sciences and applications and even tutored fellow UT Austin students in Matrix Theory, Java/C/ARM Programming and Circuit Theory. This firsthand experience allows him to better understand clients’ needs every step of the way.
Sammy has experience working with a variety of programming languages. In the past, he wrote software for Houston Engineering Solutions and Ameriscan LLC to automate their operations.
In his free time, Sammy is constantly working to improve himself and his health. Not only is Sammy a bodybuilder, he also enjoys mixed martial arts and kickboxing.
