Veronica Verplancken

Patent Agent at Patterson + Sheridan

As a patent agent, Veronica works alongside firm attorneys to protect clients’ IP, from drafting patent applications to handling office actions with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She’s an experienced researcher who understands how to interview and work with inventors to crystallize ideas and defend their intellectual property.

Veronica has worked on matters involving biotechnology, biochemistry, applied materials and semiconductor technologies. As an undergraduate, she conducted research within the University of San Diego’s biology department and the USD School of Law. She also interned with The Scripps Research Institute and was a law clerk at Patterson + Sheridan.

Throughout her career, Veronica has excelled at picking up concepts both quickly and well enough to turn around and teach them to others. Over the years, she’s served as a college chemistry teaching assistant, math tutor and volunteer instructor.

Veronica studied biology at the University of San Diego and received a master’s degree from the Irell & Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciences, a graduate school for biology in the City of Hope National Medical Center. When she’s not scaling IP obstacles for her clients, Veronica enjoys rock climbing as a fun way to stay fit.
