Chris Oates

Chris Oates is a skilled software engineer currently working at Paytronix since October 2021, specializing in backend development with Scala in distributed systems. In addition to technical expertise, Chris has been a math instructor since January 2016, tutoring students in high school and college-level math, including calculus, linear algebra, and SAT Math, as well as Latin. With extensive experience in education, Chris also taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to adults at Approach International Student Center, Inc. from October 2016 to October 2020, and previously to high school students in Thailand at Tesaban 6 School and Piyamitvidhaya School. Chris is also a freelance translator, proficient in translating from Thai to English. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Brown University, focusing on Buddhism, and has further education from the Rhode Island School of Design.
