John Derian

National Faculty at PBLWorks

John Derian is an experienced educator with a diverse background in teaching and educational development. Currently serving as a National Faculty member at PBLWorks since August 2017, John facilitates Project Based Learning workshops for educators nationwide. Concurrently, John has been a Master Teacher Fellow at Math for America since September 2014, engaging with a community of dedicated public school mathematics and science teachers. As a High School Science Teacher with the New York State Education Department since October 2009, John specializes in teaching Physical Science and Living Environment to ESL students at Brooklyn International High School, employing project-based and hands-on curriculum to enhance language development. Previous roles include Education App Designer at EDesign Lab, NatGeo Student Expeditions Leader with Putney Student Travel, and teaching positions across various institutions. John holds a Master's degree in Teaching from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from the same university.
