Joe Pedersen

Joe’s focus is to help evaluate new investments as well as provide support for portfolio companies; particularly in the area of Chemistry Manufacturing and Controls (CMC). Joe joined PBM Capital with 23 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, all with Merck & Co.

In his last position at Merck, Joe was the operations lead for a $660MM project to design and build a bulk vaccine facility at Merck’s Durham, NC site. Throughout the rest of his career, Joe had been in both technical and operational leadership roles across multiple organizations. He has experience with manufacturing small molecule, vaccine and biological products at five different Merck sites in the US and Puerto Rico. Additionally, Joe has worked on several startup projects and has expertise with facility design, product commercialization and filing preparation.

Joe has managed large multi-level organizations and has helped to build high performing work teams from just a few employees to large functional groups. Joe’s strong intrapersonal and leadership skills have helped him to successfully lead groups through difficult transitions. Through these transitions, his change execution management and operational effectiveness focus enabled his teams to achieve record performance despite the challenges facing the organization.

Joe has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Virginia.
