Tom Tardivo

Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at PBS

As Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of PBS, Tom Tardivo is responsible for fostering the financial integrity and fiscal health of the organization. This includes leadership of the finance, accounting, treasury, business development and investment teams.

Among his responsibilities, Tardivo oversees and directs all finance and business planning activities at PBS, including the annual budget and quarterly forecasts; operating and capital planning; and recording, tracking and analysis of contract rights. He leads the execution of accounting, tax, regulatory, grant management, payroll and compliance responsibilities. In addition, Tardivo plays key roles in assessing new business opportunities and revenue streams, and in developing strategic alliances and partnerships. As Treasurer of PBS, he oversees and directs treasury operations, including managing and optimizing financial capacity to support operating needs and fostering relationships with financial institutions on behalf of the enterprise.

Tardivo serves as Treasurer of the PBS Foundation, President of PBS Enterprises LLC (a for-profit holding company), and liaison to the Audit, Finance and Investment Subcommittees of the PBS Board of Directors. He also serves on the PBS Retirement Committee.

Tardivo first joined PBS in 1998 as Controller of PBS Home Video and subsequently rose to Senior Director of Finance for PBS Ventures, now known as PBS Distribution (PBSd). After six years, he briefly left PBS for XM Satellite Radio, where he was responsible for business operations and financial management of the sales and marketing group. He returned to PBS in 2005 as Vice President, Strategic Asset Management with financial oversight of all content-related revenue-generating enterprises, including strategic partnerships, sponsorships, licensing, merchandising, e-commerce, home video, direct-to-consumer marketing and new business development. He assumed his current role in 2017 after serving as Senior Vice President, Finance & Business Development. During his tenure, Tardivo also oversaw affiliate and management relations for the Sprout joint venture, as well as the negotiation and sale of PBS’ equity interest in the venture.

Prior to PBS, Tardivo held finance positions at Telco Communications Group, CBS News and the National Basketball Association. He began his career with Feld Entertainment.
