Adriana Marques has extensive experience in arts and culture management. Adriana has worked as the Head of Cultural Strategy for Thamesmead at Peabody, where they developed the Thamesmead Culture Guide and a draft cultural plan. Prior to that, they were the Head of Arts and Culture for Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, where they curated flagship commissions and established the park as a cultural destination. Adriana also worked as the Head of Arts and Culture Programme for the Foundation for FutureLondon, where they created a partnership arts and culture program with leading institutions. Additionally, Adriana has worked as a curator at the Austrian Cultural Forum and as a Principal Advisor for Arts and Culture at the Olympic Delivery Authority. Adriana has also held roles at Haring Woods Studio at Gunpowder Park, Arts Council England, and Artangel. Adriana began their career as an art teacher.

Adriana Marques has a BA in Contemporary Arts from Nottingham Trent University, which they obtained between 1996 and 1999. In 2002, they attended the School of Visual Arts to study Postmodern Theory. In 2004 and 2005, they pursued an MA in Creative Curating at Goldsmiths, University of London. In 2012, they briefly attended Clore Cultural Leadership, although no degree or field of study was specified.
