Shawn Bardwell

Shawn Bardwell is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in safety and security, currently serving as Associate Director for Safety and Security at the Peace Corps since November 2014. Bardwell previously held the position of Acting Director at the White House Operations Center from December 2022 to July 2023. Prior to this, Bardwell was a Safety and Security Coordinator for USAID/OFDA from September 2005 to November 2014, and also served in a similar role at InterAction from 2001 to 2005. In addition to practical experience, Bardwell has taught as an Adjunct Professor at George Washington University's Elliot School from 2005 to 2007. Bardwell's educational background includes a Master of Public Administration with a focus on Humanitarian/Non-profit Management from New York University, and a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Purdue University, complemented by leadership training from the Federal Executive Institute and the Key Executive Leadership Program at American University.
