Rasmus Storjohann has a range of work experience in various technology-related roles.
Rasmus started their career at the MS/MRI Research Group in 2005, where they worked as a Production Programmer. Rasmus was responsible for designing and implementing a client-server logging system with a MySQL backend for receiving and storing digitally signed log data. Rasmus held this role until July 2007 when they transitioned to the role of Production Technical Lead. In this position, they contributed to Multiple Sclerosis clinical trial research, following F.D.A guidelines. Rasmus worked in this capacity until October 2011.
Following their time at the MS/MRI Research Group, Rasmus joined Electronic Arts in 2011 as a Software Engineer II. Rasmus was part of a large team developing Origin, a multi-threaded Windows/Mac application that interacted with various server-side systems. Rasmus'smain focus was to create an intuitive and flawless user experience. Rasmus worked on various aspects, including GUI, digital signing, caching, and networking. Rasmus continued in this role until June 2013.
After their experience at Electronic Arts, Rasmus joined Aquatic Informatics Inc. in 2013 as a Software Engineer. Here, they were the lead developer of the Data Correction Toolbox, a C++ client application used by hydrologists to review, correct, and sign off on hydrological measurements. Rasmus worked on implementing over a dozen different data correction methods and their corresponding user experience elements. Rasmus left Aquatic Informatics Inc. in June 2017.
Rasmus'smost recent position was with PeaceGeeks, where they joined in September 2017 as a Senior Software Engineer. Rasmus wore multiple hats within a small team, including system architect, scrum master, and TDD evangelist. Rasmus worked on building the Arrival Advisor app, which helps newcomers to Canada find the assistance they need to settle into their new lives. The app is available on iPhone and Android. In August 2021, Rasmus transitioned into the role of Chief Technology Officer within PeaceGeeks, where they continue to contribute to the organization's technological growth and success.
Rasmus Storjohann has a diverse education history. Rasmus began their academic journey in 1992 at Heriot-Watt University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. After completing their undergraduate studies in 1995, they enrolled at Simon Fraser University, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from 1995 to 1999. Rasmus Storjohann then continued their studies at Simon Fraser University, where they earned a second Master of Science degree, this time in Computing Science, from 2000 to 2004.
