Carmen Gaston, J.D., currently serves as the Director of Gift Planning at PeaceHealth Foundations since February 2023. With a strong commitment to nonprofit leadership, Carmen has been a Board Member and currently serves as the Board Vice Chair and Chair of the Nominations Committee at Volunteers of America Oregon since 2008. Previous roles include Director of Mission Advancement and Director of Development & Stewardship at the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon from April 2015 to October 2022, and Chief Development & Strategy Officer and Board Member at Catholic Charities of Oregon from June 2014 to March 2015. Carmen's experience also includes serving as a Community Board Member for the Medical Society of Metropolitan Portland from October 2013 to November 2020 and Assistant Vice President of Alumni Relations & Planning at the University of Portland from May 2006 to July 2014. Earlier in the career, Carmen held product management roles at John Deere and Polaris Industries. Carmen holds a Juris Doctor degree in Contracts and International Law from Creighton University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Portland.

PeaceHealth, based in Vancouver, Wash., is a not-for-profit Catholic health system offering care to communities in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. PeaceHealth has approximately 16,000 caregivers, a medical group practice with more than 900 providers and 10 medical centers serving both urban and rural communities throughout the Northwest. In 1890, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace founded what has become PeaceHealth. The Sisters shared expertise and transferred wisdom from one medical center to another, always finding the best way to serve the unmet need for healthcare in their communities.
