Mathieu also worked at AFA Press - New York Times and USA Today as the Emerging Markets Country Head, managing projects and selling advertising for country supplements published internationally. Mathieu started their career as an International Sales Executive at CNBC.

Mathieu Brisset completed their undergraduate diploma in Environmental Engineering Technology from UniLaSalle between 1997 and 1999. Mathieu then pursued a Master's degree in International Business from Grenoble Ecole de Management, which they completed from 2000 to 2003. In 2002, Mathieu briefly attended Stellenbosch University for an MBA program focusing on Business. In 2003, they also obtained a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Groningen.
