Melizarani T. Selva has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles within the media and literary industry. Melizarani started their career as a columnist for Cine Fashion Magazine from 2008 to 2010 and later became a columnist for Natural Health Magazine from 2011 to 2011. Melizarani also worked as a sub-editor at The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad from February 2014 to August 2014, where they edited and proofread reportage for the general news desk and features section. Following that, they worked as a journalist for Star Media Group Berhad from 2014 to 2017, focusing on socio-political stories in Kuala Lumpur and Subang Jaya. Melizarani actively pursued feature articles on mental health, art initiatives, and local governance and assisted the graphics team in creating infographics for news stories.

In 2011, Melizarani started their own career as a spoken word poet, TEDx speaker, and poetry educator. Melizarani teaches storytelling, writing, public speaking, and spoken word performance to various educational institutions and corporate organizations in Malaysia, Singapore, and India. Melizarani develops syllabus and reading materials for workshops, with a focus on decolonization and identity politics in English literature.

From 2017 to 2018, Melizarani served as a co-curator for the George Town Literary Festival. During this time, they developed 'The Malaysia National Poetry Slam,' a spoken word poetry competition, with funding from The British High Commission. Melizarani also worked alongside the festival director to curate literary programs featuring emerging and established writers from Malaysia and around the world.

Starting in 2018, Melizarani joined Peatix as a Marketing Communications Manager. In this role, they curated annual festivals and programs to showcase emerging and established creators in the local music, arts, and startup scene. Melizarani promoted physical events and virtual experiences by event organizers in Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan to a global audience. Additionally, they created educational material on virtual, physical, and hybrid event creation for new event organizers.

More recently, in 2020, Melizarani took on the role of Editor at Sing Lit Station. Here, they commissioned feature articles focusing on the literary scene in Singapore, Malaysia, and Southeast Asia. Melizarani worked alongside a team of editors, writers, and content creators to develop written, video, and audio content for three online issues per year on SingPoWriMo.com

Melizarani T. Selva pursued their education in communication and media studies at Monash University from 2011 to 2013, completing a Master's degree in Communication and Media Studies. Melizarani'sstudies at Monash University focused on media analysis, journalism, and identity politics. Prior to that, they attended Taylor's University from 2008 to 2009, where they obtained a Foundation degree in Communication. The details of their undergraduate education are not provided, except that they pursued a B(A) degree in Communication and Media Management from the University of South Australia, although the start and end years are not specified. Melizarani'scourse of study at the University of South Australia involved subjects such as public relations, event management, advertising, and journalism.
