Jimmy A. Mena has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of biotechnology. Jimmy A. is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Pegasus Biotech Inc. Prior to this, they worked as the Associate Director of Process Development at Turnstone Biologics from December 2019 to March 2021.
Before their role at Turnstone Biologics, Jimmy held several positions at Elanco. Jimmy A. served as the Global Process Development Leader from January 2019 to October 2019, the Director of Aqua Vaccines R&D from March 2017 to December 2018, and the Senior Manager of Technical Development from January 2015 to February 2017.
Their previous experience includes working at Novartis as a Fellow of Technical Development Manager from June 2014 to December 2014, a Senior Principal Scientist of Process Development from September 2013 to May 2014, and a Principal Scientist of Process Development from March 2012 to August 2013.
Before joining Novartis, Jimmy worked at PROBIOMED S.A. de C.V. as a Group Leader of Cell Culture and Fermentation from April 2011 to March 2012. Jimmy A. also held research positions at the National Research Council Canada, Instituto Bioclon, and Biotechnology Institute-UNAM. Additionally, they were a Visitor PhD Student at the University of California, Berkeley, and a Research Associate at Ecopetrol.
Throughout their career, Jimmy has gained expertise in process development, technical leadership, and research in the field of biotechnology.
Jimmy A. Mena completed their High School Diploma in Industrial Chemistry at INEM Francisco de Paula Santander in Kennedy, Bogota from the years 1986 to 1991. Following this, they attended Universidad Nacional de Colombia from 1993 to 2000, where they obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Later on, they pursued further studies at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, completing their Master of Science degree in Biotechnology from 2002 to 2004. Finally, they continued their education at the same institution, earning a Ph.D. in Biotechnology between 2004 and 2007.
