Douglas B. Dotan

Douglas B. Dotan is the founder, chairman, and president of Pegwin. Douglas has over 25 years of experience in the medical and aviation industries.

Douglas began their career in the aviation industry in 1968 as a pilot officer and air safety investigator for the Israel Defence Forces. Douglas later became a manager of flight safety and security for ASI Group, a MEDEX Global Company. In January 2000, they became a partner at CRG Medical, LLP.

At CRG Medical, Douglas helped create an Artificial Intelligence driven predictive modeling tool that could quantify the probability and degree of confidence that a change in a process or procedure would change the potential risk for patient harm. This tool was instrumental in helping the company achieve its goal of reducing preventable patient deaths by 50% within 5 years.

In 2003, Douglas left CRG Medical to start their own company, DBD Risk Management, LLC. DBD Risk Management is a risk management consulting firm that provides services to the healthcare industry. The company has helped hospitals and other healthcare organizations improve patient safety, reduce costs, and improve quality of care.

In 2014, Douglas founded Pegwin, a software company that provides tools to help healthcare organizations manage risk and improve patient safety. Pegwin’s software is used by over 1,000 hospitals and other healthcare organizations worldwide.

Douglas B. Dotan has a MA in Behavioral Science - Industrial/Organizational Psychology from University of Houston-Clear Lake, a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences from Bar-Ilan University, and an Institute of Safety and Systems Management in United States Air Force Flight Safety Officer Course from University of Southern California. Douglas also has an Air Force Flying Academy - Pilot's License and Officer Training in Military and Strategic Leadership and Aviation Science from IAFFA - Israeli Air Force Flight Academy, a Diploma in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Machon L'Madrichei Chutz La'Aretz - Institute for Youth Leaders from Abroad, and a Cambridge School Certificate in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Prince Edward Boys High School, Salisbury, Rhodesia.
