Mervin Yan

Mervin Yan has over two decades of experience in various roles and industries. Mervin is currently working as a Technical Lead for Web at Pelmorex Corp, where they have been employed since 2020. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Java Software Engineer at SaskTel International from 2017 to 2020.

From 2007 to 2020, Mervin worked at Paradigm Consulting Group as a Senior Application Consultant and Application Practice Lead. In this role, they led and facilitated the application development practice, organized best practice meetings, mentored junior developers, and worked on software development projects for clients. Mervin also redesigned an in-house application and improved its security, scalability, and portability.

Before joining Paradigm Consulting Group, Mervin served as a Technical Consultant at Saskatchewan Cancer Agency from 2015 to 2017. In this position, they made recommendations for improving data quality and efficiency and created complex reports utilizing various databases.

In 2014, Mervin worked at Greystone Managed Investments Inc. as a System Designer, where they led the implementation of a data model for the Portfolio Modeling System and developed strategies for integrating it with other systems.

From 2012 to 2014, Mervin returned to SaskTel International as a Senior Java Software Engineer. In this role, they designed and developed a domain model based on industry standards, created web UI widgets, and integrated different systems.

From 2011 to 2011, Mervin worked at Saskatchewan Workers' Compensation Board as a Senior Performance Engineer. Mervin designed and developed automated testing processes and scripts, significantly improving productivity and reducing manual testing efforts.

Prior to that, from 2005 to 2011, Mervin served as a Senior Software Engineer Team Lead at Saskatchewan Government Insurance, where they designed and developed a Business Rule Management System that empowered business users to manage rules independently.

In 2004, Mervin worked as an Application Architect at CVIC Software Services Canada Inc., where they designed and developed a management tool for organizing and viewing reports.

Finally, from 1996 to 2004, Mervin worked as a Senior Software Engineer at CVIC Software Engineering Co., Ltd. During this time, they led the development of various systems, including a production tracking system and an information system for a publishing house.

Mervin Yan obtained a Diploma in International Business Administration from Dalian University of Technology from 1993 to 1996. Mervin also earned a Bachelor in Engineering in Computer Software from the same university during the same period. Mervin possesses additional certifications such as the DevOps Fundamentals Certificate from APMG International in 2019, the PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner from PeopleCert in May 2018, and the Certificate of Advanced OO Design and Patterns with UML and Java from Object Discovery Corporation in 2005. Mervin is also TOGAF 9 Certified, although the month and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
