Shahzad Afzal

Shahzad Afzal, PhD, P.Eng., PMP, is an experienced professional in systems optimization and capacity planning, currently serving as a Systems Optimization Engineer at Pembina Pipeline Corporation since November 2017. In addition to their role at Pembina, Shahzad has been a Tutor Mentor for TutorBright since January 2021 and an Instructor at the University of Calgary from September 2021 to September 2022. Previous positions include Capacity Planning Engineer at Alliance Pipeline and Data Scientist at Suncor. Shahzad's educational background includes a PhD in Process Monitoring and Control from the University of Alberta, an MSc in Control Systems from the Pakistan Institute of Engineering & Applied Sciences, a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, and ongoing MBA studies in Business Administration, Management and Operations at the University of Calgary. Certifications include a PLC and HMI Applications certificate from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
