Octavio Botana has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years. Octavio started their career in 2002 as a Junior Press and Communication Officer at Naïve, where they were responsible for media relations, press releases, national artist promotions, and marketing strategies. Octavio then moved on to RBA Libros in 2004, where they worked as a Press Officer for three years. In 2006, they became the Head of Editorial at the Festival Internacional de Benicàssim. After that, Octavio worked at Fnac Barcelona from 2007 to 2014, holding the position of Communication Manager. During this time, they managed cultural programming, press relations, photography exhibitions, and marketing and sales activities. In 2014, Octavio joined Sapristi as an Editor, specializing in graphic novels and comics, where they selected titles, negotiated with literary agents and authors, and developed annual editorial plans. Currently, they are an Editor at Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, working in their Sapristi, Salamandra Graphic, and Distrito Manga divisions.
Octavio Botana received their Licenciado degree in Humanidades from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, from 1997 to 2001. Prior to that, they obtained a Técnico de Radiodifusión degree from Aula Radio, specializing in Communication, Radiodifusión, and Doblaje, from 1995 to 1998.
