Andreas Junge has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Andreas began their career in 1987 as a Product Manager at Star Division, GmbH, where they managed various software products. In 1992, they became the General Manager of Star Division Corporation, responsible for setting up and managing the US operations. After the acquisition by Sun Microsystems, the productivity suite StarOffice was re-released as OpenOffice.
In 1995, Junge joined Atlantis Technologies, Inc. as a Software Development Manager, overseeing the development of call center workflow integration applications. Andreas integrated high-end Siemens PBX systems with IVR and data back-ends, designing a gateway to connect web-based applications to legacy systems.
In 1999, Junge became the Director of Network Operations at Opengrid, where they designed and operated highly available data centers for web-based mobile messaging applications. Their work included developing and hosting mobile email for Motorola and a wireless reservation system for Hilton Hotels.
From 2001 to 2011, Junge served as the President and Founder of TecThermo, developing solid-state thermal test equipment for the semiconductor and computer manufacturing industry. Their customers included Apple, Foxconn, Boeing, and Agilent, among others.
In 2005, Junge joined Penguin Computing as the Vice President of Hardware Engineering and Operations. Andreas focused on developing the best practices for Linux-based user experiences, simplifying the deployment and management of large server pools.
From 2009 to 2012, Junge served as a Board Member at Kachingle.
Overall, Junge has gained extensive experience in software development, hardware engineering, and operations management, with a particular focus on Linux-based technologies.
Andreas Junge attended Staatliche Handelsschule mit Wirtschaftsgymnasium City Nord [H7] Hamburg from 1989 to 1992. During this time, they studied IT but did not obtain a specific degree.
