Founded in 1979, PCN has always strived to be of public service to the communities it serves. PCN's original purpose was to provide a cable television network for the distribution of educational programming by Pennsylvania institutions of higher learning. PCN marked the first use of cable television for distance education and was the first educational cable television network in the nation.
