Christopher Clayton, NBCT, Ph.D. has a diverse range of work experience in the field of education. Christopher has served as the Director of Education Services at the Pennsylvania State Education Association, where they provided support to over 181,000 educator members on various issues and developed professional development courses. Christopher also revitalized the Student PSEA Program and reconfigured PSEA's Regional Continuing Professional Education Program. In addition, they served as an Adjunct Faculty at the Graduate School of Education, University of Pennsylvania, and as a Consultant and Presenter at CharacterStrong, where they conducted professional learning presentations on Social Emotional Learning and Character Development. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Core Curriculum & Instruction at the DeKalb County School District and as the Executive Humanities Program Coordinator at Fulton County Schools. Christopher also has experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Georgia and as an English teacher and coach at various school districts.

Christopher obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Language and Literacy Education from The University of Georgia in 2014. Prior to that, they completed an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership and Administration, General at The University of Georgia from 2011 to 2013. In 2006, Christopher earned a Masters degree in Education from Regis University. Before that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Wingate University in 2001.

At the beginning of their academic journey, Christopher obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) from Orange Coast College in 1998. Christopher completed their high school education at Trabuco Hills High School from 1991 to 1995.

In addition to their educational qualifications, Christopher Clayton has obtained several certifications to enhance their teaching skills. Christopher received National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2008, which they renewed in November 2018. Christopher also holds National Board of Professional Teaching Standards- A/YA ELA Renewal Certification since November 2018. Moreover, Christopher possesses certifications such as Teacher Keys Effectiveness System Evaluator from the Georgia Department of Education (obtained in August 2013), Georgia Leadership (L7) Superintendent Certification from The University of Georgia & the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (obtained in July 2013), and Reading Endorsement from the University of Georgia & the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (obtained in May 2012). Additionally, they obtained a Supervisory & Instructional Level II certification from the PA Dept of Education at an undisclosed time.
