Darren Micallef has extensive experience in marketing within the sports and entertainment sectors, currently serving as Head of Marketing, Digital and Data at Penrith Panthers since July 2013, where responsibilities include managing advertising campaigns, overseeing brand compliance, and enhancing digital community engagement. Previously, Darren held roles such as Rugby League Marketing Coordinator at Penrith Panthers and Marketing & Communications Coordinator at Panthers Entertainment Group, focusing on project management, media relations, and digital marketing initiatives. Earlier experience as E-Marketing Specialist at Rooty Hill RSL involved website development and event coordination. Darren holds a Bachelor of Business in Marketing from Western Sydney University, obtained between 2004 and 2006.

Penrith Panthers
The Penrith Panthers are one of 16 rugby league teams within the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. Founded in 1967, the Panthers have won the premiership six times (1991, 2003, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024). The Panthers senior and junior squads, along with rugby league administration employees are based in the Panthers Rugby League Academy. The Academy is a $22 million dollar high performance training and development facility. The Academy was opened in 2017 by the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull MP, Prime Minister. The Academy consists of two full-size all-weather training fields, two gymnasiums, hot and cold plunge pools, a 61-seat team auditorium, medical rooms, a number of recreational areas for players and staff, as well as administration offices.
