Melania Paraschiv is a seasoned taxation professional with significant experience in various leadership roles. Currently serving as the Director of Taxation at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec since April 2024, Melania also chairs the PIAC Tax Forum at the Pension Investment Association of Canada since 2019. Prior to these roles, Melania held the position of Director of Taxation at Ivanhoé Cambridge from September 2009 to April 2024 and worked as a Tax Manager at KPMG from September 2001 to August 2009. Melania began the career at KPMG Romania as a Senior Tax Consultant from 1997 to 2001. Academically, Melania holds a Maîtrise en fiscalité from HEC Montréal and has completed a Diplôme d'université de droit des affaires franco-roumain at Université de Bucarest and Université de Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. The educational background also includes a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from The Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest.

Since 1977 the Pension Investment Association of Canada (PIAC) has been the forum for Canada’s pension plans to share information and knowledge. PIAC is composed of over 850 pension professionals from 130 of the largest pension plans in the country. They are responsible for the oversight and management of over $2.5 trillion in assets on behalf of millions of Canadians. Our membership includes pension funds of all sizes and types across Canada in both the private and public sectors.
