Thomas Boutaugh has extensive work experience in the engineering field. Thomas started their career at Consol Energy in 1970, where they held various positions including surveyor, industrial engineer, mine engineer, group leader, supervisor of engineering services, and senior project engineer. Throughout this time, they gained certifications as a shot firer, mine examiner, and mine manager. In 2000, Thomas joined PENTA ENGINEERING CORPORATION as the Director of Engineering, where they managed a talented team focusing on heavy industrial complexes worldwide. Thomas also served as a project manager for several major projects, including the conversion of an underground limestone mine into offices and warehouses in Valmeyer, Illinois.

Thomas Boutaugh attended West Virginia University from 1969 to 1973, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Mining Engineering. Thomas continued their education at West Virginia University from 1970 to 1974, focusing on Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering.
