Gavin Longmuir

Security Architect at Penten

Gavin Longmuir has over 30 years of experience in the Information Technology field. Theircareer began in 1989 as a Technical Assistant at CSIRO. Gavin then worked as an Information Technology Officer at The Australian National University in 1990 and the Department of Primary Industries and Energy in 1995. In 1996, they became a Senior Information Technology Officer at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, where they were involved in the implementation and ongoing operation of the Secure Gateway Environment (SGE) project. From 2000 to 2004, they worked as a Senior Information Security Consultant at iSecure, SecureNET, and Betrusted, where they were involved in the network architecture of the Australian Taxation Office's ABN-DSC. From 2007 to 2012, they worked at Verizon Enterprise Solutions as an Information Security Architect and Chief Architect of the Certified Australian Gateway Environment. During this time, they were responsible for the design, implementation, and ISM certification of a highly available and resilient gateway environment. Since 2018, they have been a Security Architect at Penten.

Gavin Longmuir began their educational journey in 1980 at Warners Bay High School in New South Wales, Australia. Gavin then moved to Finley High School in the same region, where they attended from 1980 to 1983. Afterwards, they attended Griffith High School in New South Wales, Australia from 1983 to 1985. In 1986, they enrolled at The Australian National University and obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computing in 1989. In 2000, they obtained a Grad Cert (IT Security) from Queensland University of Technology in IT Security. In 2006, they obtained a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)².
