Abhishek Tripathi has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Abhishek currently holds the position of Chief Information Officer at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. Prior to this, they worked at the Australian Department of Home Affairs as an Assistant Secretary and later as the Director of Visa & Citizenship System Delivery. Before joining the government sector, Abhishek served as the National ICT Manager at Surf Life Saving Australia. Abhishek also gained experience as a Senior Advisor at the Department for Environment and Water and as a Senior Consultant at NURV. Abhishek'swork experience spans from 2009 to the present, showcasing their expertise and versatility in different domains.
Abhishek Tripathi holds a Master of Information Technology degree from the University of Adelaide, specializing in Computer/Information Technology Administration and Management. Abhishek obtained this degree in 2007. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from the College of Engineering Roorkee in 2002. In addition to their formal education, Abhishek also holds certifications in Cisco Certified Network Analyst (CCNA), ITIL, and a Working With Children Check from the NSW Office of the Children's Guardian.

The Department is home to several Commonwealth entities and is responsible for the Office for Women, Office for Best Practice Regulation (OBPR), Office of G20 Sherpa and Behavioural Economics Team of Australia (BETA).
