Our mission is to improve the lives of all Australians by delivering high quality, innovative and timely advice to the Prime Minister, the Cabinet, Portfolio Ministers and Assistant Ministers. We co-ordinate across government with a whole-of-nation approach. We work closely with communities, stakeholders and across all areas of government to deliver for all Australians. We lead the Australian Public Service (APS) in rigorous and collaborative policy development, implementation and program delivery. We are a motivated and dynamic organisation which welcomes people with diverse experiences and from diverse backgrounds. We value people with ideas, the ability to present them persuasively, and the drive and skill to see them adopted. Our staff work across different areas that are a priority to the national interest: • Domestic Policy Group develops economic, social and environmental policies. • National Security and International Policy Group provides advice to the Prime Minister and coordinates across Government on intelligence, defence and security, and foreign trade and international relations. • Governance Group provides support services for government operations as well as official and ceremonial support. The Department is home to several Commonwealth entities and is responsible for the Office for Women, Office for Best Practice Regulation (OBPR), Office of G20 Sherpa and Behavioural Economics Team of Australia (BETA). We are a flexible and agile organisation which fosters an inclusive and diverse workplace.
