Megan Leahy

First Assistant Secretary, Office For Women at Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

Megan Leahy has extensive experience in public policy and women's safety, currently serving as First Assistant Secretary in the Office for Women within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet since December 2018. Previous roles include Assistant Secretary in the Social Policy Division and Director positions at the Department of Social Services, where responsibilities included overseeing the development of the Third Action Plan of the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children and leading initiatives to combat violence against women. Leahy has also contributed to significant policy advancements within the Women's Safety Policy landscape, including the establishment of Australia's National Research Organisation on Women's Safety and the management of the Support for Trafficked People Program. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Commerce/Arts in Gender and Cultural Studies, and Accounting from the Australian National University.
