Ashley (Ash) Lovell, Ph.D.

Ashley (Ash) Lovell, Ph.D. has had a diverse range of work experiences throughout their career. Ashley (Ash) started as a Research Assistant at the United States Forest Service: Rocky Mountain Research Station, where they organized and facilitated workshops on watersheds and climate change. Ashley (Ash) then worked as a Project Coordinator and Facilitator at THE PINE RIDGE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, followed by a role as a DHNA Pilot Project Site Coordinator at Village Earth.

Lovell continued their education while working, earning a Ph.D. in Environmental Sociology from Colorado State University. During their time at the university, they also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and lectured for various courses in the Sociology and Human Dimensions of Natural Resources departments.

After completing their Ph.D., Lovell took on the role of Research Associate at the Hill Country Alliance before becoming Co-Director at Hill Country Conservation Networks. Ashley (Ash) then served as the Director of Partnerships and Outreach at the Texas Land Conservancy, where they focused on promoting collaboration for land and water conservation in Texas.

Lovell later joined The Alliance Center, where they held multiple roles. Initially, they worked as the Director of Marketing and Communications, leading efforts in branding, strategic communications, and partnership-building. Later, they became the Chief Impact Officer, leveraging their experience in the non-profit, academic, and for-profit fields to build and strengthen the organization's network for sustainable development.

Most recently, Lovell joined PeopleForBikes as the Electric Bicycle Policy & Campaign Director, focusing on advancing electric bicycle policies and campaigns.

Throughout their career, Lovell has demonstrated a passion for sustainability, strategic partnerships, and collaboration in the pursuit of a more sustainable future for all.

Ashley (Ash) Lovell, Ph.D. obtained their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Environmental Science from the University of Denver, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Ashley (Ash) then pursued their Master's degree in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources from Colorado State University, from 2008 to 2010. Continuing their education at Colorado State University, Lovell earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Environmental Sociology from 2008 to 2014.
