Asitha Goonewardena has extensive experience in product management and software development, with a focus on HR and payroll systems. Asitha is currently working as the Chief Product Owner at PeoplesHR, where they are responsible for guiding the delivery and strategy of software products. Prior to this, Asitha held the same position at hSenid Business Solutions. Asitha also served as the Product Manager for HRMEnterprise & PeoplesHR at hSenid Business Solutions, where they were responsible for product development, market launch, and product suite upgrades. Before that, they worked at JOHN KEELLS IT as a Business Solutions Consultant, where they oversaw SAP ERP implementation and provided IT support for HR and payroll systems. Asitha started their career at hSenid Software International as a Senior Software Engineer, where they played a key role in the development and implementation of core HR and payroll applications.
Asitha Goonewardena completed a BSC in Management Information Systems from the National University of Ireland during 1998-2000. Asitha also obtained an Advanced Certificate in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing during 1997-1999. Asitha Goonewardena pursued a Higher Diploma in Computer Based Information Systems from the National Institute of Business Management in Sri Lanka from 1994-2000. Additionally, they attended Kingswood College Kandy from 1980-1993, focusing on Mathematics. Asitha Goonewardena has obtained several certifications throughout their career, including the Future Leaders Program from the National University of Singapore in 2022, Artificial Intelligence BIZ from CertNexus in 2020, and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) from Scrum Alliance in 2019, among others.
