Matthew Shirley

Matthew Shirley is a dedicated volunteer firefighter currently serving with Marquette Heights Fire/Rescue Department since April 2024. Additionally, Matthew has been active in various roles with Peoria Park District since May 2023, including working on the Prescribed Burn Fire Crew and in security. As a School Resource Officer for Peoria Public Schools since December 2020, Matthew plays a vital role in ensuring safety within the educational environment. Matthew's extensive experience includes serving as a volunteer storm spotter, firefighter, and EMR with Tazewell County Emergency Management Agency since May 2003, and as a firefighter and first responder with Astoria Volunteer Fire & Rescue since May 1989. Past roles also include security supervision at Allied Universal Security Services and a wildland firefighter position with TGF Forestry & Fire Inc. Matthew holds a high school diploma from Astoria High School and has a robust background in firefighting, emergency response, and security services.
