Banky Alao has an extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Banky is currently the Co-Founder/CEO of peppa.io, a social commerce startup focused on making online purchases safer in Africa. In this role, they lead a team of 14 members and is responsible for market-fit, user experience, and product strategy. Before this, Banky served as the SVP Marketing & Product at MyMonty, where they mentored multiple team leads and worked on product positioning and vision. Banky also held the position of Head Of Digital at Airtel Nigeria and worked as an Innovation Consultant at Ericsson. Prior to that, they served as a Product Marketing Manager at Etisalat Nigeria, where they played a crucial role in the growth of the mobile broadband business. Banky has also worked at companies like Etisalat, Interswitch Ltd, mobileculture Nigeria, and CMOE-Netcom Consultants, contributing their expertise in various roles such as Product Manager, Applications Specialist/Systems Engineer, and Program/Project Manager.
Banky Alao has a diverse education history. Banky completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing at CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing in 2013-2014. Prior to that, they obtained a degree in Engineering (B.Sc) from the University of Lagos from 1998 to 2005. Banky also attended Olashore International School from 1993 to 1998. In terms of certifications, they obtained a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification from Scrum Alliance in July 2020. Banky also received a Full-Stack Product Management Certificate from Product School in 2020. Banky recently pursued Growth Marketing studies at Demand Curve starting in 2022. In addition, they have obtained certifications such as the Section4 Certified Strategist and completed courses in Platform Management, Strategy, and Innovation through the Center for Global Enterprise. Banky has also completed the Driving Strategic Impact II course offered by the Institute for Personal Leadership.
