Joanna Lack

Joanna Lack has a diverse range of work experience, starting with their current role as Executive Director at Percapita since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Consultant for the upEND Movement from October 2020 to December 2021. From September 2018 to June 2020, they held the position of Director of Inclusive Development at Sidewalk Labs, and for a brief period from March to September 2018, they served as Interim Head of City Operations at the same company. Earlier in their career, Joanna worked as the Chief Performance Officer for the Camden City School District from April 2014 to June 2017. Before that, they held various roles within the NYC Department of Education, including Executive Director of the Office of Academic Policy & Systems from February 2012 to March 2014, Senior Director of Academic Policy, Research and Policy Support Group from January 2010 to January 2012, and Policy Director of the Office of Postsecondary Pathways & Planning from an unknown start date to 2010. Prior to joining the NYC Department of Education, Joanna served as a Special Assistant to the Deputy Chancellor, Division of Teaching & Learning from an unknown start date to 2009. Their career began as a Teacher and English Department Chair at Whaley Middle School/Teach For America from July 2001 to June 2005.

Joanna Lack has an extensive education history in various fields of study. Joanna attended Brown University from 1997 to 2001, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science. In 1999, they also took part in a program at the School for International Training in Harare, Zimbabwe, focusing on Arts & Social Change. Continuing their education, Joanna enrolled at Loyola Marymount University from 2001 to 2003, where they pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Secondary Education. Later, in 2005-2006, they attended Teachers College, Columbia University, earning a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Politics and Education.
