Michael Burgess

Michael Burgess has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Michael started their career as an Audit Senior at Deloitte, gaining experience in financial services and various other industries. Michael then joined Credit Suisse as a Head Office Consolidation Manager, responsible for reviewing and understanding monthly financial reporting. Burgess later moved to Morgan Stanley, where they held multiple roles including Global Controller, Global COO/Global Controller, and Global Head of Legal Entity Rationalization. Michael also served as the CFO for Morgan Stanley's private bank in Switzerland.

After their time at Morgan Stanley, Burgess worked at SHUAA Capital psc as the Group Chief Financial Officer during the financial crisis. Michael played a key role in ensuring the bank's stability and emerged from the crisis with the support of the Dubai Government.

Burgess then joined Montgomery Woodrow as a Management Consultant before transitioning to Macquarie Group. At Macquarie, they served as the Global Head of Financial Control for Asset Management/Asset Finance/Retail Banking and later as the Head of Corporate Reporting for EMEA and Americas.

Michael continued their career at CFA Institute as an Interim Controller before joining Clarity Services Group as a Managing Principal. In their current role, Burgess helps financial services clients with their accounting and data needs.

Most recently, Burgess joined Percapita as a Senior Business Consultant, contributing to the company's mission of changing the world of Financial Services.

Michael Burgess attended the University of Canterbury from 1990 to 1994, where they obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in Law and a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Accounting and Economics. In 1997, they became a Chartered Accountant through the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. In 2011, Michael obtained a Private Pilot License with an Instrument Rating for Airplane Single Engine Land from the Federal Aviation Administration. Most recently, in December 2019, they obtained the Finance and Operations Principal (Series 27) certification from FINRA.
