Sam Tanzer

Mr. Tanzer is a Managing Director in Perella Weinberg Partners’ Advisory business. He focuses on advising clients on restructurings, liability management, and distressed M&A.

Mr. Tanzer has more than 5 years of investment banking experience assisting companies on a wide range of strategic matters. During his tenure at Perella Weinberg Partners, he has advised Hess Energy Trading Company (HETCO) on the sale of Hess Corporation’s interest in HETCO to Oaktree, California Resources Corporation on its $1 billion capital raise and tender offer; an ad hoc group of unsecured bondholders in connection with the restructuring of Breitburn Energy Partners, Bonanza Creek on its pre-arranged chapter 11; the board of Approach Resources on Approach’s out-of-court equitization of unsecured bonds; and Memorial Production Partners on its pre-arranged chapter 11.

Prior to joining Perella Weinberg Partners in July of 2012, Mr. Tanzer was at Applied Predictive Technologies from 2007 to 2010, where he most recently served as an Engagement Manager responsible for leading strategy consulting engagements with national retailers, restaurants, and banks, and designing predictive analytics software.

Mr. Tanzer received a Bachelor’s of Arts in English from Stanford University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
