Simon Thompson has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Simon currently holds the position of Head of Operations at Perenna, a role they have been in since February 2021.

Before joining Perenna, Simon spent a significant portion of their career at Virgin Money. Simon held various roles at the company, including Head of Mortgage Operations from October 2019 to February 2021. In this role, they led a team of 800 mortgage operations colleagues and oversaw the underwriting, processing, and servicing of residential and buy-to-let mortgages across the Virgin Money, Clydesdale Bank, and Yorkshire Bank brands.

Simon also served as the Interim Customer Services Operations Director at Virgin Money from April 2018 to October 2019. Prior to that, they held the position of Chief Underwriter from February 2012 to April 2018 and Mortgage Operations Manager from August 2011 to February 2012.

Before joining Virgin Money, Simon gained valuable experience at Northern Rock, where they worked as an Underwriting Manager from March 2005 to August 2011 and a Principal Lending Manager from January 2004 to March 2005.

Simon's career began at Barclays Bank, where they worked as a Corporate Manager's Assistant from March 1999 to July 2000. Simon then moved on to Bank of Scotland, where they served as a Corporate Banking Analyst from July 2000 to December 2003.

Simon Thompson LLB(Hons) MBA has a comprehensive education history. Simon first attended Northumbria University from 1999 to 2003, where they studied Law and obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree with honors (LLB). Later, from 2005 to 2008, they pursued further education at the same institution, earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Business.
