Tom McClaughry

Tom McClaughry, PMP has extensive work experience in various industries. Tom currently works at Perfect Plastic Printing as the Director of Product Development and Quality Assurance. In this role, they collaborate with banks and FinTech customers to deliver unique solutions that enhance the consumer experience. Prior to this, they were the Innovation Projects Manager at the same company, where they created and directed innovation strategies to drive added value and cost savings.

Before joining Perfect Plastic Printing, Tom worked at Sonoco Alloyd, where they held multiple roles. Tom was the Division Tooling Manager, responsible for managing division tooling. Tom also served as the Innovative Product Design Team Manager in the Integrated Solutions Group, where they provided creative enhancement to internal business functions using design thinking and oversaw the Creative Services department. Additionally, they were the Creative Services Manager, where they created brand-enhancing package design concepts for clients.

Tom also has experience as an Independent Contractor in both package design/engineering consulting and custom design/fabrication. As a consultant, they provided packaging consulting services and designed/sourced packaging for various clients. Tom also worked as an Independent Contractor in custom design/fabrication, where they designed and built custom furniture and interior design installations.

Earlier in their career, Tom worked as the Design Manager in the Structural Innovation Team at Kornick Lindsay. Tom managed design projects and contributed to the design process with 3D concepts. Tom also worked as an Industrial Designer at TricorBraun, where they were responsible for creating and implementing bottle and package designs.

Tom began their career as a Freelance ProEngineer Designer, where they simultaneously worked on solutions for multiple clients. Tom also worked as a Shop Technician in Industrial Maintenance at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign's Materials Research Laboratory.

Throughout their career, Tom has utilized their expertise in product development, innovation, design, and project management to drive success in various industries.

Tom McClaughry, PMP has a diverse education history. Tom first pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1999 to 2000. Following this, they attended the University of Illinois Chicago from 2000 to 2004, where they obtained a BFA degree in Industrial Design.

Additionally, Tom has obtained several certifications throughout their career. Tom became a Certified Packaging Professional from the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IOPP) in 2009. Furthermore, they became an Associate Member of the International Card Manufacturers Association (ICMA) in May 2021. Most recently, they achieved the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in March 2022.
