William Fedus

William Fedus is a co-founder of Periodic Labs, with experience as VP of Research, Post-Training at OpenAI from September 2022 to March 2025, where leadership was provided to the post-training research team responsible for developing models that power ChatGPT and other products. Before this role, William was a Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI, contributing to the creation of ChatGPT and managing research and development for post-training models. Prior to OpenAI, William worked as a Research Scientist at Google from June 2016 to July 2022, focusing on deep learning research at Google Brain, and began career as a Research Intern at Google Accelerated Sciences, enhancing computer vision techniques for biological microscopy. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of Cambridge, along with a PhD in Computer Science from Université de Montréal.
