Perkins Estman
Miguel decided to go to architecture school after taking a technical drafting course in high school. He continued drawing by hand and building physical models for a few more years before almost completely switching over to computer drafting and modeling. After becoming a licensed architect in Mexico in 2007, Miguel moved to Chicago and obtained an MFA in interior architecture and sustainable design. These achievements allowed him to become an NCIDQ-certified interior designer and to begin his higher-education career as an adjunct faculty member. He’s been practicing in workplace interiors and teaching emerging interior designers since 2011. Miguel joined Perkins Eastman in Chicago in 2017 and relocated to New York City a year later. In his role as a project manager for the interior design studio, he is involved in all phases of a project as liaison between the client, the consultants, and the design team. He finds the construction phase the most exciting because it’s the tangible conclusion of an involved design process.
