Josh Forman-Gornall

Josh Forman-Gornall has a diverse work experience. Josh started their career at Morgan Stanley as a Technology Intern in 2011 and then joined the company again in 2012 as a Technology Industrial Placement, where they developed a search and comparison tool for financial products using Java web services and Adobe Flex.

In 2013, they joined The Hut Group as a Software Engineer, working on innovative engineering projects to boost revenue across the company's e-commerce websites. Josh played a key role in redesigning the search engine component of the group's e-commerce platform.

After that, Josh joined Adform as a Data Engineer in 2015, working in the demand-side platform research team. Josh built real-time bidding infrastructure and improved probabilistic models for buying ad space on behalf of advertisers.

In the same year, they became employee #1 at Permutive, a data platform focused on privacy. Josh started as a Software Engineer, building the foundations of the real-time data platform and scaling it to handle 20,000 requests per second. Josh also worked on pre-sales and post-sales engineering and built integrations with advertising and marketing partners.

At Permutive, Josh gradually progressed to become a Technical Lead, leading the development of backend services, infrastructure, and SDKs for the real-time data platform. Josh scaled the platform and engineering team during the company's growth from $1M to $10M ARR.

In 2021, they took on the role of Senior Engineering Manager at Permutive before becoming the Engineering Director in June 2022. Their role is focused on making data useful at scale while keeping user privacy at the heart of the technology.
