Nikhil Thota

Nikhil Thota is a skilled software engineer with extensive experience in various technology roles, currently serving as a Member of Technical Staff at Perplexity AI since February 2023. Prior to this, Nikhil explored startup opportunities in the personal search space, advised other startups, and worked as an early engineer at Texts.com. Nikhil's previous experience includes a role as a Senior Software Engineer at WhatsApp, where optimization of server infrastructure for the social graph was achieved, and contributions to projects related to contact sync and group messaging were made. Nikhil also held positions at dOrg, Meta, Kleiner Perkins, Indiegogo, Drawbridge, and the University of Florida, demonstrating a strong background in product development, engineering, and leadership. Nikhil co-founded the Association of Computer Engineers at the University of Florida and contributed to educational initiatives as a teaching assistant.
