John L. Miscione is a Managing Director in the New York office of Duff and Phelps. John joined Duff & Phelps in 2005 when it purchased Valumetrics, Inc. John has 30 years of corporate finance experience, and specializes in advising family and employee owned companies on a broad range of strategic and financial matters.
John received his M.B.A. in Finance from New York University, his M.A. in Psychology from the University of Virginia, and his B.A. in Psychology from the John Hopkins University. He is a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) registered representative and holds the FINRA Series 7.79 and 63 licenses.
John is widely recognized as an expert in ownership transition and private company finance and speaks regularly on a wide range of topics, including leveraged ESOPs, the debt capital markets for private companies, valuing closely held businesses and exit alternatives for private business owners.
John is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), the ESOP Association (and its Finance Advisory Committee), the Executive Committee of the New Jersey/New York Chapter of the ESOP Association, the National Center for Employee Ownership and the New York Institute of Credit (and its Board of Directors). John is a Trustee of the Employee Ownership Foundation and a Chairman of the Board of the Center Against Domestic Violence, a not-for-profit social service agency headquartered in New York City. In the private sector, John is a member of the Board of Directors of Personal Touch Holding Corp.
