Tom Urtz

Tom Urtz has extensive experience in the retail industry, holding various leadership positions throughout their career. Tom is currently the Chief Retail Officer at Pet Food Express since January 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Vice President of Retail Operations at Pet Food Express from October 2021 to January 2023.

Before joining Pet Food Express, Tom worked at ShopRite Supermarkets for a significant portion of their career. Tom held several key roles, including Vice President of Operations from January 2014 to March 2021, where they oversaw operations for 36 stores and more than 7,000 associates across New York and New Jersey. Tom also served as the Vice President of Human Resources, Community Affairs, and Government Affairs from January 2010 to December 2013, where they developed innovative associate training and development programs and redesigned the performance review and compensation program.

Tom started their career at Food Emporium in 1989 and held various positions, including General Store Manager, where they managed multiple locations generating annual profits of $1.9 billion. Tom later transitioned to roles such as Co-Manager and District Manager.

Throughout their career, Tom has demonstrated strong leadership skills, improving operational efficiency, implementing innovative programs, and managing large teams.

Tom Urtz earned their Bachelor's degree in Marketing/Marketing Management, General from Fordham University. Tom attended the university from 1985 to 1989.
